Today was another car journey...leaving Sault Ste Marie to London thru Michigan. It was a great day for travel, sunny and cool. Our friend told us to get over the bridge to the U.S. before 9:30 a.m., otherwise you end up sitting in your car on the bridge for quite a while. So we took his advice and left early. On the way, I spotted something really funny in a strip mall..Weight Watchers meeting place right beside a store called Cupcakz. You go to WW, weigh in and pick up a tasty treat on the way out!!! Lol
It has been years since either one of us has been on the bridge into the U.S. I took some video of it as we were driving. When we arrived at Customs, the fellow asked us all the usual questions, then he spotted the video cam in my lap and then demanded to know if I took his picture or any other officer's picture, I assured him I just took the bridge, nothing more. He let us go without incident!
The driving was good, anywhere from 2-4 lanes at 70 mph. I have to commend Americans on their lovely rest stops. There are plenty of them and they are very clean. Lunch was in Bay City, a cute town just before Flint. We just went into Timmy's and had a sandwich, quick and easy.
Coming back into Canada at Sarnia was quite an experience. Cars and trucks backed up on the bridge on both sides. It makes Pigeon River look like a one-horse crossing!! The countryside around Sarnia reminded me of rural Manitoba with its wide open spaces and farm land. Apparently this farm land is one of the most expensive farm lands around.
We arrived at Sheila's around 4:45 p.m. It's nice to be here and in the same spot until next Wednesday.
